Orange Is the New Black star Uzo Aduba is fighting for education reform in the latest trailer for Miss Virginia.
Based on a true story, Aduba plays Walden Ford—a single mother who leads the fight for education reform in Washington, D.C. after struggling to provide her at-risk son, James (played by Niles Fitch — This Is Us), a private school education in a better neighborhood.
“My son can’t wait,” Virginia objects in the trailer. “He needs change today — not tomorrow, not next week and definitely not ‘eventually.’ We’ve beenwaiting. I’m done.”
Directed by R.J. Daniel Hanna from a script by Erin O’Connor, Miss Virginia also stars Matthew Modine, Vanessa Williams, Aunjanue Ellis and Adina Porter.
Miss Virginia is set to be released on-demand October 18.
