Fans of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air are calling for a revival of the popular 90s tv show after a fan-made movie trailer surfaced online earlier this week.

Much like the original, starring Will Smith and Alfonso Ribeiro, the trailer tells the story of a teenager named Will from West Philadelphia who gets into “one little fight” and moves in with his aunt and uncle in Bel-Air.

Directed by Morgan Cooper, the trailer reimagines the TV series through a contemporary albeit more dramatic lens, with up and coming actor Jerry Madison portraying Will Smith.

Since its release, the video has become a viral sensation, having been shared across social media platforms and receiving praise from many celebrities evening catching the attention of the original ‘Fresh Prince’, Will Smith.

Cooper says that he would love to expand upon the world introduced to people through the trailer but nothing is established as of yet.

“When we first made this thing I was really confident in the art. The internet’s the internet. You never if something’s gonna catch a spark or not,” Cooper says. “I’m very excited for everything that has happened and receive it humbly. But at the end of the day I’m a black creative and representing my culture and expressing myself authentically is of the utmost importance to me.”
